Amaru Gourmet's Journey in Brattleboro: A New Year Begins, A New Chapter in 2025

As the dawn of January 1, 2025, breaks, we at Amaru Gourmet are filled with gratitude and excitement for all that the New Year holds. Since we opened our doors on May 29, 2024, we have not just created a restaurant; we've built a culinary home that celebrates love, family, and the vibrant flavors of Peruvian cuisine. The past year has been a remarkable journey, filled with connections and friendships, and we are eager to share our milestones, new commitments, and a fresh menu as we welcome 2025.

From the very first meal served, our mission has been clear: to provide a unique dining experience rooted in tradition and passion. Together, Chef Lana and I, Chef Luis, embarked on this adventure with a determination to bring the rich and diverse flavors of the streets of Lima to our beloved Brattleboro community. Since we started, we have had the privilege of meeting many wonderful people and building relationships with clients who have become friends.

 

Each encounter has deepened our roots in this vibrant community, transforming our culinary journey into a shared experience that transcends the kitchen. Each dish tells a tale, and every ingredient holds a memory that transports me back to my roots. Every creation is crafted with fresh ingredients, unique culinary techniques, and our secret ingredient: a pinch of love, all aimed at showcasing the essence of Peruvian cuisine in every plate we serve.

A Brief Refresh: Peruvian cuisine is a rich tapestry interwoven with influences as varied as its stunning landscapes—ranging from coastal beaches to majestic mountains and lush jungles. Every ingredient carries its own story, shaped by the cultural exchanges that have come from Spain, Italy, Japan, China, and Africa. Embracing this diverse culinary heritage has inspired us to create a fusion of flavors that results in unforgettable dishes, each one capable of evoking new memories and experiences.

Our journey has not only been about serving food but also about connecting with the community around us. Just weeks after our grand opening, we were honored to be named Best Ethnic Restaurant 2024, a recognition that fueled our passion and showcased the impact of our culinary efforts.

As we turn the page to 2025, we are filled with exciting new resolutions and commitments. We have dedicated ourselves to continually improving our offerings, and we are thrilled to announce that our new menu will launch on Valentine’s Day, coinciding with the "Battle of the Chefs." This menu reflects our commitment to innovation, building on the lessons learned over the past months while showcasing our clients’ wants and expectations. Chef Luis spent nearly a month in December refining his skills to introduce new concepts and ideas that cater to our clients' needs. We cannot wait for you to experience the delightful new dishes we have created!

Our culinary journey has led us to numerous opportunities to engage with our community. In the past year, I contributed articles to the Reformer’s food section, along with a few pieces for Vermont Country Magazine and VM Magazine, sharing insights about our culinary adventures and inviting readers to explore the vibrant world of healthy cuisine. We are excited to continue this engagement in 2025 as we launch a monthly column for the Halifax Newsletter, showcasing recipes and stories from our kitchen. Additionally, we will maintain our Amaru Gourmet Wednesday food section and articles.

As the New Year unfolds, we are proud to continue our collaborations with Brattleboro TV, where we will participate in "Battle of the Chefs" on Valentine's Day and "Q2: A Pinch of Love." These events will provide us the opportunity to share our culinary philosophy and connect with fellow food lovers in a dynamic way.

Throughout 2024, we cherished the support of our patrons, who left glowing reviews and encouraged us with their kind words. Achieving a 5-star rating on Google affirmed our dedication to excellence and our mission to spread joy through food.

Brattleboro, with its vibrant culture and strong sense of community, remains a wellspring of inspiration for us. We deeply appreciate the relationships we've developed with local suppliers, friends, and family as we cultivate a culinary home that reflects the heart of this lively town.
